About the Tour

Discover Cusco and Puno in 8 days, two of Peru’s must-see destinations. Both destinations are located in the heart of the Andes and are regions that have a lot to offer, such as impressive landscapes and a vibrant culture that is still very much alive today.

During your journey, you will discover Inca cities with remarkable engineering and impressive ancient architecture. You can also visit Inca communities that still preserve certain ancestral customs and traditional ways of life. DAY 1DISCOVER THE CITY OF CUSCO

Half-day walking tour of Cusco.

Visit the Temple of the Sun (Qorikancha), the most famous building from the Inca period. Then continue exploring the city with the twelve-angled stone, the famous traditional neighborhood of San Blas, and finally the local market of San Pedro.
Option to attend an evening show of folk dances and music with the BTG (Boleto Turistico General). Free afternoon in Cusco to enjoy the city.

DAY 2CUSCO - CHINCHERO - MORAY - LES SALINES DE MARAS - OLLANTAYTAMBO - AGUAS CALIENTES

Departure from your hotel after breakfast. We visit the village of Chinchero with its archaeological site, beautiful colonial church, and weaving workshops.
Short stop at the Sacred Valley viewpoint, then drive to the Maras Salt Mines, a natural curiosity unique to Peru (with its famous black salt).
Option to have lunch on site.
In the afternoon, visit the archaeological site of Moray, considered an Inca agricultural laboratory. Then, departure for Ollantaytambo. Visit the village of Ollantaytambo with its famous Temple of the Sun.

DAY 3AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHUPICCHU - OLLANTAYTAMBO

A day dedicated to discovering this new wonder of the world, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983.

Early morning departure from your hotel with your English-speaking guide to take the shuttle bus (30 min.) to the main entrance of Machu Picchu (2,450 m).

Guided tour of this extraordinary citadel discovered in 1911 by an American historian. The tour will take you along the most comprehensive 2-A circuit with panoramic photos
of the citadel and corresponding explanations.

After the tour, you will have the opportunity to walk down a path through lush vegetation (7 km) to the town of Aguas Calientes.
Train to Ollantaytambo and transfer to the city of Cusco. Overnight stay at a hotel in Cusco.

DAY 4CUSCO - MONTAGNE DES COULEURS PALCOYO (5050m) - FORÊT DE PIERRES - CUSCO

Departure from your hotel by private transport to the start of the Palcoyo mountain trail, which is less touristy.
Short stops to take photos of the landscapes and herds of alpacas.
Arrival at the starting point (4,800 m), 1-hour hike to the viewpoint of the rainbow mountain and snow-capped mountains.
Free time to enjoy taking photos of the magnificent landscapes.
Then a short walk up to the Stone Forest (about 1 hour round trip). Return to the transport to continue the journey to the village of Racchi.
Opportunity to discover its archaeological site where the temple dedicated to the god Vicacocha is located. Welcome by the local family.

 

JOUR 5RACCHI - ROUTE OF THE SUN - PUNO

Departure by private transport to Puno via the Route of the Sun. Crossing of the La Raya Pass at 4,300 m. During the journey, we visit the spectacular natural formation of the Tinajani Canyon. Return to the village of Ayaviri where we sample its typical dish,
kankacho (roast lamb).
Cross the Altiplano towards Puno. Short stop at the Pukara museum. Then arrive in the city of Puno.

Overnight stay in the city of Puno.

DAY 6PUNO THE UROS ISLANDS - AMANTANI

Departure by motorboat from the port of Puno.
Visit the floating islands of the Uros, a magnificent place in the middle of Lake Titicaca.
Departure by boat to Amantani Island. Meet the local population and stay with them. Dinner in a local family home. Afternoon walk (1 hour) to the highest point of the island, Pachamama Temple and Pachatata Temple, to admire a spectacular sunset.
Return and dinner at the family home.
Dance and welcome celebration with the villagers.
Overnight stay in Amantani (basic comfort).

DAY 7AMANTANI-TAQUILE-PUNO

Typical family lunch.
Departure by motorboat from Port Amantani to Taquile Island.
Discover this famous island where the men knit and the women weave.
Hike for about an hour to reach the village. Welcome with traditional dances.
Dinner in Taquile with the locals.
Opportunity to discover the handicrafts. Departure for Puno.
Afternoon, opportunity to visit the city of Puno.
